Jos Buttler has firmly established himself as one of England’s leading limited-overs cricketers. Celebrated for his inventive, 360-degree stroke play, he was appointed England’s full-time white-ball captain in June 2022.
Buttler made his T20I debut against India in Manchester in 2011. Competing initially with Craig Kieswetter for a place in the side, he secured his spot in the national setup by 2013. After a lengthy injury layoff, Jos Buttler made a roaring return in the second T20I against the West Indies in Bridgetown during England’s 2024 tour. Chasing 159, England suffered an early setback as Phil Salt departed on the very first ball. Buttler, however, steadied the ship with a blistering 83 off just 45 deliveries, hammering eight fours and six sixes. His explosive knock guided England to a comfortable seven-wicket win and earned him the Player of the Match award.
4. 83 vs USA, Bridgetown, 2024*
In the Super Eight stage of the 2024 T20 World Cup, Buttler produced another gem at the same venue. Chasing a modest target of 116 against the USA, he remained unbeaten on 83 off just 38 balls, peppered with six fours and seven towering sixes. Alongside Phil Salt (25 off 21), Buttler helped England romp home by 10 wickets with a staggering 62 balls to spare, picking up yet another Player of the Match award.
3. 83 vs India, Ahmedabad, 2021*
During England’s 2021 tour of India, Buttler displayed his class in the third T20I at Ahmedabad. Chasing 157, he anchored the innings with a commanding unbeaten 83 from 52 deliveries, striking five fours and four sixes. England secured victory with 10 balls remaining, with Buttler deservingly named Player of the Match for his composed yet aggressive display.
2. 84 vs Pakistan, Birmingham, 2024
Another standout performance came in 2024 when Buttler top-scored with a brilliant 84 off 51 balls against Pakistan in Birmingham. Batting first, he formed a vital 71-run partnership with Will Jacks for the second wicket. Buttler’s knock, featuring eight fours and three sixes, powered England to a defendable total. The hosts eventually clinched a 23-run victory, with Buttler once again walking away with the Player of the Match accolade.
1. 101 vs Sri Lanka, Sharjah, 2021*
Buttler’s highest T20I score remains his unforgettable unbeaten 101 against Sri Lanka in the group stage of the 2021 T20 World Cup in Sharjah. Opening the innings, he carried his bat through, scoring a masterful century packed with six fours and six sixes. His efforts propelled England to 163 and a 26-run win. It remains his only T20I hundred and one of the finest knocks in his international career, earning him yet another Player of the Match honour.
