SRH, who batted first, went on to post the second-highest total in IPL history, amassing 286/6 with key contributions from Travis Head (67 off 31), Ishan Kishan (106 off 47), Heinrich Klaasen (34 off 14), and Nitish Kumar Reddy (30 off 15). SRH won the match by 44 runs.

4. Chennai Super Kings – 100/2 vs Punjab Kings, 2014:

The highest powerplay score by a batter came from Suresh Raina, who blasted 87 off just 25 balls against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in 2014. During Qualifier 2 of IPL 2014, PBKS set a massive target of 226/6, thanks to a century from Virender Sehwag (122 off 58). In reply, CSK made 100/2 in the first six overs but faltered in the middle overs, finishing at 202/7 and losing by 24 runs. This was the first instance of a team reaching 100 runs in the first six overs.

3. Kolkata Knight Riders – 105/0 vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, 2017:

The third-highest powerplay score belongs to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), achieved in their 2017 encounter with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Chasing a modest target of 159, KKR’s openers Chris Lynn (50 off 22) and Sunil Narine (54 off 17) added a blistering 105 runs in the powerplay. KKR comfortably chased down the target, finishing at 159/4 in just 15.1 overs and securing a win.

2. Sunrisers Hyderabad – 107/0 vs Lucknow Super Giants, 2024:

On May 8, 2024, SRH openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma put on an incredible display against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). They amassed 107 runs in the first six overs while chasing a target of 163. Not only did they dominate the powerplay, but they also completed the chase in just 9.4 overs. Head scored a remarkable 89 off 30 balls, including eight sixes and eight fours, while Sharma contributed 75 off 28 balls, including eight fours and six sixes.

SRH set a new record for the highest powerplay score in IPL history during a 2024 match against Delhi Capitals (DC) at Arun Jaitley Stadium. They scored an incredible 125 runs in the first six overs, breaking KKR’s previous record. Travis Head played a blistering knock, scoring 50 off just 16 balls, while Abhishek Sharma contributed 46 off 12 balls. SRH finished with a massive total of 266/7 and bowled DC out for 199, winning by 67 runs.
